"Life's A Campaign"

A+

Earlier today I finished reading Life's A Campaign by Chris Matthews and I gotta tell ya, it's a
great read, short but great. The book is essentially a how to book on how to succeed in life using strategies politicians use- I know what most of you guys will think. It sounds a little iffy. But it's the same things we use (or at least we try to use) in our everyday lives, the basic principles of human relations. He does a great job of showing you the positive side of politics. Something I think we as a society have learned to forget. This book showcases the importance of loyalty, determination, optimism and even rivalry in your path to succes. It's humorous, witty, and clever. It's a fun read. I loved it!

Pushing Daisies

A+

I hope that you guys have been watching Pushing Daisies if not, then, I recommend you to start. It's (in my opinion) ABC's best new series. The quaint little show that is Pushing Daisies, is a breath of fresh air; it feels like you're being read something out of a fairytale book. Perhaps it's because of the way it's presented? ;) hehe. The actors are great, the writing is great. Check it out.

BOSTON RED SOX = 2007 WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS

Journeyman

B (I wish I could give it a higher rating, I really do!)

Ok. Let me be honest NBC's Journeyman is not
spectacular but it can be pretty darn good if you give it a shot. This show has A LOT of
potential. The series centers around Dan Vasser, a normal man who, for an unknown reason, begins jumping back in time. He soon learns that each series of jumps follows the life of a person whose destiny he seems meant to change. * It stars the phenomenal Kevin McKidd alongside Gretchen Egolf, Moon Bloodgood, Reed Diamond, and Hugh Skillen. These actors are not too shabby with the exception of Moon Bloodgood (no offense Ms. Bloodgood). I haven't really been impressed with her performance. She just doesn't seem all that into it. I may be wrong though. Maybe it's because we, as the audience, haven't had a chance to become emotionally attached to Livia. I don't know. Anyway, watch the show. Give it a shot, hopefully you'll like it. I know I did.

How I became The Bomb

Here's a band whose sound I find quirky and interesting. I can't say I haven't heard it before because I must admit, the first time I heard their music my immediate thought was "Hey they sound like Hot Hot Heat" BUT that doesn't mean they're no good. If you like Hot Hot Heat's indie rock sound, you'll definitely like How I became The Bomb. Take a listen to their album Let Go, it was pretty good.

M.I.A

I forgot to mention M.I.A. (I could have sworn I had told you guys about her.) She's quite original. She does a great job of integrating music styles and sounds from all over the world and making them her own. Her music is funky, crazy, loud and fun. All it's own. I love it! Her fourth album Kala came out on Aug. 21th., it's gotten rave reviews. Listen for yourself & go buy Kala.

*Check out her video "Boyz".

Band Marino

The tracks that I've heard from this band are pretty good. I like them. The first time I heard them I was reminded of Jenny Lewis' sound as a solo artist. A little bit of indie mixed in with some country, in thier case a lot of country. If you guys aren't country haters I totally encourage you to check them out. Remember kids, music has no boundaries. ;)

Elefant

Oldie but a Goody
alright it's not THAT old but it's good.

Elefant's Sunlight Makes Me Paranoid was a really good album (I like it better than The Black Magic Show) . Sure it only had 10 tracks but every single one of them was rich in quirky, quaint beats. I love this album, it's one of my absolute favorite albums. I highly recommend it. :)

here's a track from it:

Kate Havnevik

You may have heard her music on Grey's Anatomy. If not, I advise you to check her out if you like artists such as Enya and Bjork. Her music is very soothing, but powerful. She does a good job of combining orchestra music and electronic beats. Her voice is haunting, breathy, and you can't help but imagine Havnevik whispering her music into the ear of her lover. Her lyrics are poetic; romantic but melancholic, simple yet intricate. The combination of her melodies, lyrics, and voice is addicting. Upon hearing it, one can't help but fall in love with her music.
