Caitlin Rose
Geez, it's been too long! Anyway, there's something really beautiful about authentic country music. What we now call cosmic American music/americana. It's raw, it's pure it's full of soul and that's all a breath of fresh air in our current music scene. I'm glad to see kids of my generation getting into this genre, as fun as the likes of Lady Gaga, Rhianna etc. are, our society is in desperate need to find real music. Music, not beats jumbled together into something that's not an abuse to the ear; we've become so accustomed to this type of sound that we consider it music. Music includes the ability to play an instrument, and being able to write deep insightful lyrics. This has been lacking for quite some time if you ask me. So discovering Caitlin Rose today was super exciting, her songs are beautifully powerful and she has a lovely voice. She reminds me a lot of Jenny Lewis, so if you're into her you'll probably like her sound. Except, maybe Rose is probably a bit more country than Lewis; I think because she grew up in Texas (I believe) and Nashville, whereas Lewis is from Los Angeles, very different music scenes. I've been reading some articles on her, and it seems she's inspiring hope to Americana/Cosmic American Music fans; it seems she'd make Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris proud. Though, frankly I'm myself am still a baby in the my Americana knowledge so I couldn't really say. Whatever the case, check her out I think she'll be a future great.... well that might be going too far but she is promising to say the least. Her debut 7-track EP Dead Flowers is out now.

The Half-Blood Prince; HP6
A perhaps new trailer was released in Japan a while ago, a tv trailer. It has some footage we've already seen, as well as some new footage. Also recently released, were some official Harry Potter & The Half-Blood Prince promotional posters. Finally! I really can't wait for the movie. :)
Here are the posters:
Waiting for the Half-Blood Prince
So since I didn't post a Harry Potter post in January like I planned to I decided to post more than one Harry Potter related post this morning. This is the 3rd sneak peek from the Order Of The Phoenix DVD bonus material.

Bon Iver

Check out Bon Iver aka Justin Vernon's project. Last year he released an incredible album, For Emma, Forever Ago. I must say it is quite amazing. The album is just spectacular, when you listen to it it feels like you're listening to explosions of emotions put into song. The entire album is filled with such beautiful tenderness and sorrow. I really don't know how else to explain it. This is what music should be like.
You can find this through his Myspace page:
"it wasn't planned. The goal was to hibernate.
Justin Vernon moved to a remote cabin in the woods of Northwestern Wisconsin at the onset of winter. Tailing from the swirling breakup of his long time band, he escaped to the property and surrounded himself with simple work, quiet, and space. He lived there alone for three months, filling his days with wood splitting and other chores around the land. This special time slowly began feeding a bold, uninhibited new musical focus.
This slowly evolved into days filled with twelve-hour recording blocks, breaking only for trips on the tractor into the pines to saw and haul firewood, or for frozen sunrises high up a deer stand. All of his personal trouble, lack of perspective, heartache, longing, love, loss and guilt that had been stock piled over the course of the past six years, was suddenly purged into the form of song. The end result is , For Emma, Forever Ago, a nine-song album comprised of what's been dubbed a striking debut by critics and fans alike. "
I think it's especially beautiful because a lot of us can relate to the need to hibernate after a failed relationship and all the feelings one feels when you're at that stage.
*Also be sure to check out Blood Bank, his latest work; equally incredible. The only downside, it features only 4 songs.

Grey's Anatomy Season 5 Premiere
Grey's season opener was pretty good. Not my favorite opener, but I did enjoy it. I'm really excited for Callie and Erica, the way Shonda Rhimes wrote it made it very cute, tender, legit. We also have good news for Meredith and Dereck, they're finally taking that next step and moving in together, yay for them but I bet it's going to be filled of juicy drama. My favorite part of the episode, was by far Sandra Oh's story line. They've given her a new love interest (maybe?) with Kevin McKidd, who is ridiculously hot. McHottie, McSexy, McHunky. They all fit. He seems like he might spice up Cristina's life after the Burke fiasco from Season 3. It's about time! She really needed this. I also thought it was cool that Ms. Rhimes made Seattle Grace drop in rankings, makes it a little more believeable. The season premiere was pretty good. I'm excited for what's to come.
*The scare in the beginning was a nice touch. :)

"Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist" Out Oct. 3rd
So I saw a preview for this movie and I'm actually intrigued. It seems like it'll be a goofy romantic comedy, not too sappy like most (which I like to watch from time to time). Micheal Cera has proven to have a very good eye for comedies (e.g Superbad, Juno), I hope this holds true for this movie.
I think I want to read the book. :) Seems like it'll be cute.
"Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist" opens in theatres October 3.

Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince Sneak Peek 1
HARRY POTTER- HALF BLOOD PRINCE OPENS JULY 2009

I know it's not until JULY but I'm oh so very excited for this movie that I had to put up a post. (Make the wait easier to bear.) I will be posting up a video every other month, for a total of at least 5 until July when the movie premieres. The videos will only be interviews by the cast or official sneak peeks from the WB for Half-Blood Prince. So pretty much only what the studio wants the public to know before the movie comes out. I WILL NOT HAVE ANY SPOILERS. I don't want to ruin it for myself, or anybody else. Besides if you've read the book, you don't need spoilers. That being said, here's video number one, followed by official trailer.

"Love is a Mix Tape"
Brief review. I read Rob Sheffield's "Love Is A Mixtape" and I was a little bit disappointed. It was recommended to me so I guess I thought it would be amazing, but it really wasn't. It was good, had it's sad and happy moments but it was not great. If you want to read it, I'd say borrow it. Could use those $13 for something else. Lord knows we have to be stingy these days. Solid B.

Gossip Girl
I am actually getting into Gossip Girl. I saw the re-run of the pilot episode and I actually like it, a lot. It's very catty. Very political (in the normal meaning of the word; non gov. kind of way). I'm very much intigued. I think I'll catch up by watching it online, if the episodes are available.
I know, I'm lame. It's my first post in forever. Sorry. I'll try to blog more frequently. :)

Ok... so the writter's strike is over.
So I know it's been a while now but the strike is over, which means all my favorite shows will be back. I'm so glad. I was so sick and tired of watching repeats. I even resorted to watching some reality shows, something I RARELY do. Anyhow, so it looks like Journeyman won't be coming back but I wish it did because that show was really a great show. .. oh you know what else sucks, I started watching Friday Night Lights because Matt Czuchry guest starred in it for four episodes and I actually found it to be pretty good. I liked the actors their characters and stories. The thing is I started watching it because of Matt Czuchry and because for a while it was the only show with new episodes, and now that I fell in love with (well, let's be honest here, I like it) it turns out it has not been picked up yet for another season. It's pretty much canceled. How lame is that? So Journeyman and and FLN have been canceled now I have absolutely no reason to watch NBC. Journeyman was my regular show and FLN would have been the replacement or at the very least hey-Im-bored-let's-flip-to-NBC-and-see-what's-going-on show. So I guess ABC's the network for me. I still have Grey's Anatomy, Ugly Betty, Pushing Daisies, Dirty.Sexy.Money; some of which won't return until next fall.
Well, as long as they're back right?

Journeyman Finale

So Journeyman will in fact not be returning for another 9 episodes :( This Monday was the first Monday without Journeyman and what a very sad Monday it was.
However, I must say that Kevin Falls and his crew did a PHENOMENAL job at wrapping it up considering there was still that possibility that it would continue if the ratings improved. He delivered on his promise, it gave you answers that were satisfying but it did still leave some questions unanswered just in case it did continue.
The last scene with Dan about to jump back into the past and alerting Katie so she could see him leave was great. McKidd acted beautifully in that scene. His face, as he told her, and his voice, carried so much emotion. I got the feeling that everything would be ok and that, as he promised in the first episode, he would always come home. I also thought the way they wrapped the image into Katie's eye was great- like they did on the first episode, only with Dan. It was like tying a bow on a present :) (If that made any sense at all).
I really loved this show and I do hope there is some kind of miracle and we see it come back next season, or get extra episodes on the DVD ;) WHICH by the way I'm buying as soon as it comes out.

SAVE JOURNEYMAN!

Now this isn't fair. Journeyman has gotten REALLY good since my last post. A+ rating now, but NBC has not picked it up for another season. So it looks like we will only have 13 episodes :( . Hopefully, if it does really strong in the last 2 episodes, NBC picks it up. I really love this show! The writing and story is really good on this show. The acting is superb. It's such a shame to end this show after just one season because of low ratings. It has a devoted fan base, small one, but very much devoted.
Journeyman really is a fantastic show. If you're a fan then you know what I'm talking about. If you're not then watch an episode give it a shot. (Watch FULL EPISODES ) You'll love it!
Please, PLEASE sign the petition for a second season of Journeyman.

Across The Universe
WOW! This film deserves an A++. This movie is fantastic. Very entertaining. The whole world should watch this movie, it is a masterpiece. This movie is really well done. Ok I should stop now, but it's really good. This movie is basically a musical (and a love story). They used Beatles songs to tell the story and did a wonderful job. The film tells a story about a guy named Jude who travels to the U.S during the 1960's and finds himself in the middle of the Anti-War movement. This film really brings you back into that time period and you can really feel the sentiment that was felt at the time (but I wouldn't really know). It's REALLY GOOD. The music fits perfectly. Go see it!!
The boys in this movie are very cute by the way ;)

WRITERS' STRIKE
All new episode of Journeyman tonight. Eeek! I'm super excited.
Just had to say it :)
Ok but what I wanted to talk about is the screen writers strike that's going on in Hollywood. Though I support them- they deserve a paycheck increase (hey, they create the stuff), I really hope this issue is resolved soon, because if not I will my miss my shows DEARLY. The news were saying that prime time is set up until January but after January? What then? What's going to happen to my JOURNEYMAN, PUSHING DAISIES, GREY'S ANATOMY, Ugly Betty, Dirty.Sexy.Money, & Big Shots?? I worry very much. ;) and not just that but what about the people that will lose their job as a result of this strike? The non writers? Sad, sad situation.

"Life's A Campaign"
Earlier today I finished reading Life's A Campaign by Chris Matthews and I gotta tell ya, it's a great read, short but great. The book is essentially a how to book on how to succeed in life using strategies politicians use- I know what most of you guys will think. It sounds a little iffy. But it's the same things we use (or at least we try to use) in our everyday lives, the basic principles of human relations. He does a great job of showing you the positive side of politics. Something I think we as a society have learned to forget. This book showcases the importance of loyalty, determination, optimism and even rivalry in your path to succes. It's humorous, witty, and clever. It's a fun read. I loved it!
